The government has decided to extend Jens Mattsson's appointment as Director General and Head of the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) until August 31, 2028. The current appointment expires at the end of August 2025.

Mattsson assumed the role of FOI's Director General on August 12, 2019, and will have led the agency for six years by the end of the ongoing term.

– We are in the midst of a historically significant defense buildup where the Swedish Defence Research Agency is a key player, and I am grateful that Jens Mattsson wants to continue leading the agency, says Minister of Defence Pål Jonson in a press release from the Ministry of Defence.
