FMV Signs Contract with Astilleros Armon for New Work Vessels

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed an agreement with Astilleros Armon for the delivery of two new work vessels to the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten). The vessels are expected to arrive in 2027 and 2028. The vessels are part of FMV's efforts to strengthen the Swedish Armed Forces' naval logistics, the agency states in a press release.

They will replace existing vessels to enhance the navy's capability for torpedo recovery, logistics, underwater operations, and diving capability. Other platform types included are new harbour tugs and supply vessels, the latter intended for various types of naval maintenance services. The new systems will be continuously delivered to the naval base battalions and the naval military bases, FMV writes.

– As the project manager for the procurement of the harbour tugs, I will bring a lot of experience into the more complex procurement of the work vessels. Essentially, we are the same project team, both from FMV and from the Swedish Armed Forces, although of course expanded to a larger group, says Susanne Nordman, project manager for the procurement of the work vessels in the press release.
