The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a framework agreement with Promoteq, based in Sandviken (central Sweden), for equipment for the Swedish Armed Forces' military police and security units. The agreement can run for up to seven years and covers, among other things, body armour, surveillance equipment and counter-drone systems.

According to a press release from FMV, the framework agreement is intended to enable more flexible materiel supply, with particular focus on the military regions' security organisation.

The equipment includes discreet body armour, handheld video cameras, one-man tents and counter-drone equipment. FMV states that the security organisation within the military regions will be supplied with equipment at a rapid pace in order to strengthen operational capability.

"The ambition is for the equipment to be supplied according to operational needs, thereby helping to strengthen the units' ability to carry out their tasks," says Mats Backlund, systems engineer at FMV, in the press release.

The framework agreement has an initial term of one year, with the possibility of three extensions of two years each. The total contract period can therefore amount to seven years. The agreement has been drawn up in cooperation with the Swedish Police Authority, which is also given the opportunity to call off equipment through the framework agreement.

"We see strengths in this agreement, as it is adaptable to the needs-based materiel supply that is required. It creates the conditions to meet the operation's equipment needs in a more flexible and appropriate manner," says Mattis Hiltula, systems engineer at FMV.

FMV has not disclosed any contract value or specified order volumes in the press release.
