FMV Signs Framework Agreement for Up to 3,000 Multipurpose Vehicles
FMV has signed a framework agreement with Iveco Defence Vehicles SpA for up to 3,000 multifunction vehicles for the Armed Forces, as well as an agreement for maintenance and service. An initial order includes three of the versions totaling 400 vehicles valued at 850 million SEK, according to press releases from the agency and the company.

- The first delivery to the Armed Forces will take place at the end of 2024, and the majority of the vehicles will be delivered in 2025, says Michael Helander, project manager at FMV, Army division, in the agency's press release.

The first order includes 400 vehicles of the types troop transport, medical transport, and flatbed truck for approximately 850 million SEK. The vehicle is based on a basic platform and has twelve versions. In addition to the ordered versions, there are versions for dog transport, logistics vehicles, and command vehicles for the Army, Air Force, and Home Guard.

- With these vehicles, the Armed Forces gain a modern capability that complements existing capabilities within the Army and Home Guard and to some extent replaces certain capabilities from the Armed Forces' old workhorses in the war organization, terrain vehicles 11 and 13, says Michael Helander.

The agreement also includes the possibility to order additional variants of the vehicles. The framework agreement is valid with fixed prices for four years, and there are two options that allow the framework agreement to be extended by an additional three and two years, respectively. The Armed Forces can order up to 3,000 vehicles under this agreement.

According to a press release from Iveco to GlobeNewswire, one of the two versions of the medical transport vehicles will be able to be transported by the C-130 transport aircraft without affecting the vehicle equipment's functionality in the air. The press release continues that the vehicle fleet has a maintenance and service agreement lasting up to twelve years, via something they call dedicated Customer Logistic Support.

According to Iveco's press release on their own website, the engine has been developed to operate in temperatures from -32°C to +49°C. The vehicles have permanent four-wheel drive, with differential locks on and between the front and rear axles, as well as individual front wheel suspension.
