The BAP is a specially designed flatbed system with an integrated winch frame intended for transporting, launching, and retrieving deck bridge pontoons and tugboats. The equipment is used to build ferries and floating bridges and complements the Swedish Armed Forces' existing bridge terrain vehicles.
– The major advantage of the BAP, compared to previous solutions in the Swedish Armed Forces, is that it can essentially be used on any truck with a load changer or container mounts. This provides significant security as the transport vehicle does not need to be specially designed to be used when building a ferry or floating bridge, says Linus Harenius, project manager at FMV, in a press release from the agency.
The system has been developed by JOAB specifically for the needs of the Swedish Armed Forces. According to the company, the design enables both cost savings and increased operational flexibility, as the platform can be quickly moved between different vehicle types.

The first series deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces are planned for 2026. Production will take place at JOAB's new facility in Dals Rostock.
