FMV Orders Hundreds of Trucks: 1.4 Billion SEK
FMV has ordered 775 trucks from Scania and Volvo for 1.4 billion SEK. Deliveries are planned between 2025 and 2027.
– It is a good contribution to our joint defense capability. We have a vehicle fleet that needs renewal and nearly 800 trucks are a welcome addition. A robust logistics chain is the foundation for operations, says Army Chief Jonny Lindfors.
The order includes several types of trucks. From Scania, 75 box trucks 6x6, 300 flatbed trucks 4x4 with tarpaulin and tail lift, and 100 roll-off trucks 6x6 are ordered. Volvo will deliver 300 flatbed trucks 6x6 with tarpaulin and tail lift. The options include an additional 575 vehicles of the same types.
– The addition of 775 modern trucks to the Armed Forces now represents a strong capability increase, says Jonas Silfver Wikstrand, section chief for heavy wheeled vehicles at FMV.
The trucks will be used by various units within the Armed Forces for the transport of goods, loose load carriers, and vehicles.
– We are both proud and honored that the Armed Forces have chosen Scania as the supplier for this strategically important order. It is, of course, a recognition of our vehicles and our ability to meet the tough requirements set for defense purposes, says Johan Uhlin, CEO of Scania Sweden.
