The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a contract with Saab for the delivery of the artillery locating radar system Arthur. The order value is approximately 1.1 billion SEK, according to FMV's press release. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027.

According to Saab's press release, it concerns the latest version of Arthur, with a range of up to 100 kilometres for warning of incoming indirect fire. Saab is also responsible for the vehicle integration of the systems and support to the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten).

– The system will ensure that the artillery locating capability of the Swedish Armed Forces becomes even more capable as this system will have higher performance than today's, says Silas Lindqvist, project manager at FMV in FMV's press release.

The agreement includes options for additional systems and up to 15 years of support. According to FMV, it also enables the connection of other countries. The system is intended to replace and enhance existing capabilities within the army's brigades.

Earlier this year, Sweden donated Arthur systems to Ukraine, along with the Archer artillery system from BAE Systems Bofors. In October, NDS reported that Saab also received an order from NATO's procurement organisation NSPA for the life extension and upgrade of Spain's existing Arthur systems.
