Throughout the year, there have been repeated media reports about certain deficiencies in the base layer of personal equipment. The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has now announced a procurement of 70,000 pairs of marching boots.

In May this year, it was revealed that the army had to cancel training exercises for 1,400 people, citing a lack of personal equipment such as boots and rain gear.

In addition to the boots, the current procurement includes 140,000 pairs of insoles, and FMV also has an option for an additional 20,000 pairs of boots and 40,000 pairs of insoles. Furthermore, the boots are required to be quick-drying, have shock-absorbing properties, and be suitable for use within the temperature range of -5°C to +35°C.
