The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a framework agreement with Saab regarding the Giraffe 1X radar system. In conjunction with the agreement, FMV has made an initial call-off order valued at 650 million SEK, according to FMV's press release.

The call-off order pertains to radars aimed at strengthening the army's brigade air defence, writes FMV. The framework agreement also includes usage within the navy and air force, and allows other nations to join the agreement.

According to Saab, the order concerns the Giraffe 1X in the Compact Radar Module (CRM) configuration, intended for rapid integration on various platforms. Deliveries are to be made immediately.

– This type of framework agreement provides more efficient procurement and also enables export through joint procurements with other countries, says Jonas Lotsne, head of the army materiel division at FMV, in the agency's press release.

The framework agreement applies to all branches of the armed forces and includes usage within the army, navy, and air force.
