Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) have entered into an agreement regarding new functionality and revised delivery schedules for the Gripen E and Gripen C/D. The agreement covers the period 2023–2030 and the order is valued at approximately 5.8 billion Swedish kronor, the company states in a press release.

FMV and Saab have agreed to revise their existing contract for the development and production of the Gripen E by adding new functionality, including changes to the electronic warfare system, the communications system, and the reconnaissance system, as well as revised delivery schedules for both the Gripen E and the Gripen C/D, the company states.

"This agreement is further proof of the close collaboration between Saab, FMV, and the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten). I am very proud that we are contributing to the Swedish Armed Forces' operational capability by further enhancing the capability of the Gripen system, which is a world-class combat aircraft," says Lars Tossman, Head of Saab's Aeronautics business area.

According to the press release, the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV, and Saab have agreed on revised development and delivery schedules that enable the continued development and operational use of the Gripen C/D beyond 2030, in parallel with the introduction of the next-generation combat aircraft, the Gripen E. This is intended to safeguard the Swedish Armed Forces' operational combat aircraft capability.
