An FMV delegation led by Director General Göran Mårtensson visited Ukraine's capital Kyiv on April 8. The group included parts of the agency's leadership and representatives from Sweden's defense industry. The purpose of the trip was to follow up on the cooperation agreement that FMV signed last year, the agency states in a press release.

FMV states that the cooperation agreement means that FMV supports Ukraine in establishing a Ukrainian procurement agency, and that FMV can conduct joint procurements together with Ukraine, and provide support in the procurements Ukraine conducts. Additionally, the agreement allows for an expanded exchange of information and experiences between the parties.

According to the agency, the purpose of the trip was to follow up on the cooperation agreement that FMV signed with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense during the NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023, as well as the activities and collaborations ongoing in the defense materiel area between Sweden and Ukraine.

Also present on the visit were representatives from the Swedish defense industry, CEO of BAE Hägglunds Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, CEO of BAE Bofors Lena Gillström, and Saab's Deputy CEO Anders Carp.

– I am very pleased with the visit and the meetings that took place in Kyiv. Support for Ukraine is an important issue for FMV, and we are working intensively on the implementation of all parts of the cooperation agreement. Additionally, Swedish defense companies have much to contribute in strengthening Ukraine's military capability. I look forward to continued and deepened cooperation together with our partners in Ukraine, says Göran Mårtensson in the press release.
