The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has signed an agreement with Saab for additional RBS 70 NG air defense systems valued at approximately 1.5 billion SEK, reports the agency. The system, already in use by the Swedish Armed Forces, is intended to enhance the brigades' protection against drones, aircraft, and missiles up to nine kilometers away.

– The RBS 70 is a well-proven air defense system. The purpose of the acquisition is to increase the Swedish Armed Forces' capability over time and provide the brigades with increased power to counter airborne threats, says Jonas Lotsne, Head of the Army Materiel Division at FMV.

Saab confirms the order and states that deliveries will take place in 2027–2028 and include missiles and equipment for future integration into the mobile solution Mobile Short-Range Air Defence (MSHORAD). The systems will be integrated into existing units within the army and air force.
