The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has signed an agreement for the additional procurement of the Meteor missile from the supplier MBDA UK. According to the agency, the order was completed in a short time thanks to the collaboration between FMV, British authorities, and MBDA UK. Delivery of the missiles is planned for 2025.

– The additional procurement of Meteor is part of further enhancing the Swedish Armed Forces' air defense capability both nationally and as part of NATO. This procurement is the third additional order of the system that FMV has made for the Swedish Armed Forces, says Martin Anderberg, Head of Combat Aircraft Systems at FMV.

Meteor has been developed through a collaboration between Sweden, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, and has been operational in Sweden since 2016. The missile is integrated on aircraft types Jas 39 Gripen, Rafale, and Eurofighter.
