Last year, the air show was organised at Uppland Air Wing F 16 outside Uppsala and attracted just over 190,000 people. Today, Air Force Chief Jonas Wikman decided to cancel this year's air show. This is done to provide respite for the Air Force personnel to focus on capability growth instead.
– It is naturally unfortunate to cancel a popular event, but I fully understand the Air Force Chief's decision. The Air Force has adjusted its readiness over a longer period while simultaneously conducting operations, training, and exercises. Our personnel work under significant pressure, and we therefore need to prioritise our main tasks, says Mats Antonson, Head of the Helicopter Wing, in a comment in the press release.
