In December 2025, the first trial run of the Swedish Armed Forces' new motorboat MSMB type 200 was conducted off the coast of Gothenburg (western Sweden). The boat is manufactured by Nimbus on behalf of Svensk Konstruktionstjänst AB (Svekon) and will be utilised by both the navy and the Swedish Home Guard. Deliveries to the units will commence in 2026.

– The trial run shows that we are on the right path with a cost-effective solution that is based on a proven foundation but adapted for military requirements. This is an important step in ensuring that the Swedish Armed Forces receive a modern and suitable boat that meets the needs of both the navy and the Home Guard, says Gunnar Hansen, Head of Naval Platform Systems at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), in a press release.

The task to procure the boat was received by FMV in the autumn of 2023, and it is based on the aluminium boat Alukin CW950. A framework agreement was signed in the autumn of 2024 with Svensk Konstruktionstjänst AB (Svekon), where the Swedish boat manufacturer Nimbus is responsible for production, as previously reported by Nordic Defence Sector (NDS) in an article.

The initial trial run was conducted in early December 2025 at the entrance to Gothenburg. Representatives from the navy, the Home Guard, and the industry participated in the tests to gather data for upcoming verification.

MSMB type 200 (which stands for Smaller Fast Motorboat) is an approximately ten-metre-long workboat built in aluminium. The vessel is powered by an inboard engine and is designed for a crew of two people and eight passengers with equipment. The platform is based on a civilian boat model that has been modified to meet military specifications.

Deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces are planned to start in 2026. The current arrangement allows for deliveries until 2033.
