First SIG Sauer suppressor 3D printed in Sweden

The first Swedish-produced SIG Sauer suppressor has been 3D-printed in a collaboration between American company SIG Sauer and Swedish companies AMEXCI and MP-SEC International, writes Joshua Shoemaker, Defense Product Manager at SIG Sauer, in a post on LinkedIn.

According to Shoemaker, the production is part of the company's work to develop industrial partnerships and local manufacturing capacity in Europe.

AMEXCI is responsible for the additive metal manufacturing.

"For us, this milestone is proof of a principle we have built AMEXCI around: advanced defence components can and should be produced close to where they are needed. Qualified, certified and series-produced on European soil," writes Edvin Resebo, CEO and co-founder of AMEXCI, in a post on LinkedIn.

MP-SEC's CEO Pär Biörsson describes the Swedish production as a first step. According to him, the company's ambition is to continue building production capacity in both Sweden and Finland, with the goal that Nordic armed forces should be able to be supplied from a Nordic industrial base.
