The President of the Republic has decided on 6 December 2025 on three promotions within the Finnish general staff:
- Rami Saari has been promoted to Lieutenant General. He has been the Chief of Personnel at the Finnish Defence Forces since 2022 and has previously served as the Chief of Command at the main headquarters, the Army's Chief of Operations, and the Brigade Commander at the Pori Brigade.
- Pekka Turunen is promoted to Major General. He has been the Head of the Intelligence Department at the main headquarters since 2023, with previous experience as a Defence Attaché in Moscow and as a lecturer at the National Defence University.
- Jaro Kesänen, the current Rector of the National Defence University, is promoted to Brigadier General. He has served at NATO's Military Committee, at the main headquarters, and as the Commander of the Utti Jaeger Regiment.
The promotions are effective from Finland's Independence Day on 6 December.
