The Finnish Defence Forces' Logistics Command is procuring the micro-UAV system Parrot Anafi UKR. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2026, and the contract is valued at nearly 15 million euros, including VAT. The procurement is carried out with the support of the Nordic partner, Boston Group.

– Modern operations increasingly rely on layered, rapidly evolving unmanned capabilities. The Finnish Defence Forces' procurement underscores this reality and is intended to enhance ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) and target designation conducted with unmanned systems, says Chris Roberts, Senior Vice President at Parrot.

According to a press release from Parrot, the procurement is a continuation of Finland's existing use of drones from the manufacturer. The Finnish Defence Forces have previously operated the Anafi Thermal SE and Anafi USA models for training and method development. These existing systems have laid the foundation for operational use and will remain in service. NDS has previously reported on the Finnish purchase.

The new system, Anafi UKR, is stated by the Finnish Defence Forces to represent a significant step forward compared to previous platforms. The system has been developed based on observations and operational experiences from the war in Ukraine. The drones are designed to fly and navigate autonomously in contested electromagnetic environments.

Anafi UKR is equipped with military radios featuring frequency hopping to protect against spoofing, as well as a hardened cybersecurity architecture. According to the manufacturer, the enhanced capacity will be used for tactical reconnaissance, target designation, and territorial surveillance in demanding environments.
