The Finnish Defence Forces is ordering 18 new Jurmo-class boats from Marine Alutech for 25.2 million euros. The vessels will strengthen the Navy's ability to transport and supply units in the archipelago.
The agreement has been signed between the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command and Marine Alutech, according to a press release from the Logistics Command. Deliveries are due to begin in 2027 and be completed by the end of 2029.
The new version, Jurmo-NG (Next Generation), builds on the Jurmo class, which entered service in the early 2000s. The boats retain the previous external design, but the construction has been updated based on operational experience and current capability requirements.
Marine Alutech refers to the model as the Watercat M12 Jurmo. The boat has a displacement of 15 tonnes, a length of 14 metres and a speed of 30 knots. The crew consists of two people, and armament comprises a 12.7 millimetre machine gun.
