Finland and Poland have signed a cooperation agreement on cyber defence and Communication and Information Systems (CIS). This follows statements from the Finnish Ministry of Defence and the Polish Cyber Defence Command.
According to the Finnish Ministry of Defence, the agreement covers information sharing, joint training activities, and the development of cyber defence capabilities along with the exchange of related experience.
The Ministry of Defence also states that the parties will cooperate on the development of organisational structures, procedures for handling disruptions and incidents, and the recruitment and training of cybersecurity specialists.
The Polish Cyber Defence Command describes the agreement as a framework for deepened cooperation in cybersecurity and CIS systems. Particular emphasis will be placed on sharing information about cyber threats, supporting risk management, and developing capabilities to detect, prevent, limit, and manage cyber incidents. The cooperation also encompasses the ability to restore operational activity following events that affect security in the cyber domain.
The agreement was signed by Major General Jarmo Vähätiitto, Head of Command Systems at the Finnish Defence Forces (Puolustusvoimat) Headquarters and responsible for cyber defence, and Major General Karol Molenda, Head of Polish Cyber Defence.
