Patria and the Finnish Defence Forces have signed an agreement for series production of over 100 TREMOS systems. Deliveries will begin in 2026 and continue through to 2028.
"Finland being the first customer is an important milestone for our weapon systems business and creates a strong foundation for future success," says Mikko Leino, Executive Vice President responsible for Patria's Defence and Weapon Systems business area, in a press release.
TREMOS has been developed in close cooperation with the Finnish Army and the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, which is responsible for, among other things, materiel procurement and technical maintenance. A pre-series batch was delivered to the Army during 2025 and is now followed by the series procurement.
The system is a mobile version of a traditional mortar system. According to Patria, the advanced recoil technology makes it possible to integrate TREMOS on several different vehicle platforms while improving the mobility, firepower and precision of mortar units.
TREMOS can be fitted with barrels and breech mechanisms already in use by the customer. This means existing ammunition and existing firing tables can be used, which the company says simplifies training, operation and logistics.
The systems will be manufactured at Patria's production facilities in Finland. Production also involves a network of several dozen suppliers, and the employment effect of the contract is estimated to correspond to around 130 person-years.
