Ewa Skoog Haslum has today been appointed as the new head of the Swedish Armed Forces' Operations Command by the government. She thereby succeeds Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström, who in September became Chief of Defence Staff. The soon-to-be former Chief of the Navy is simultaneously promoted to Vice Admiral and will assume her new position on 15 November.

– In the serious international situation we are living in, where the Armed Forces must not only increase its capability but also be constantly ready for use, it is extremely honourable to have the great trust to lead the Armed Forces' operations and missions, she says in the press release.

Skoog Haslum has a long career in the navy and has, among other things, served as a ship commander, commander of the Fourth Naval Warfare Flotilla, and most recently as Chief of the Navy.

– Ewa Skoog Haslum has exactly the right background, experience, and competence to take on the position. I can now accelerate our development with a strong leadership team around me, says Supreme Commander Michael Claesson.
