On 7 October, the European Commission disbursed €1.24 billion to Ukraine under the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan. The funds go to drones, drone interceptors, drone ammunition and missiles made by Ukrainian companies.
— Russia is continuing its deliberate strategy of terror - trying to make daily life unbearable for Ukrainians. Today's disbursement will help strengthen Ukraine's defence industry, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The money comes from the defence part of the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan, which the EU approved in April, as previously reported by NDS. The Commission says this is the fifth defence payment under the loan.
The loan is divided into €60 billion for defence and €30 billion for budget support over 2026–2027. According to the Commission, Ukraine still has €15.4 billion in defence funding available for the rest of 2026. More payments are expected in the coming weeks.
— Every euro we sent to Ukraine today is turned into drones, interceptors and missiles. We are helping Ukraine to defend itself and building up its defence industry at the same time, said Andrius Kubilius, Commissioner for Defence and Space.
