The prosecutor has lifted the detention of the married couple who have been detained since 20 October on suspicion of gross unauthorised handling of classified information, writes the Swedish Prosecution Authority in a press release.

The couple was arrested and detained on 17 October in the Stockholm area following an operation by the Swedish Security Service. Both individuals are still under suspicion, writes the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

The preliminary investigation is led by Chief Prosecutor Per Lindqvist at the National Security Unit and Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist at the same national unit. They are the same prosecutors who handled the case with the convicted spy brothers Peyman and Payam Kia.

– The evidence situation is such that the suspects, who have now been released, can no longer obstruct the investigation. Since there are no other grounds for detention, the detention should be lifted, says Chief Prosecutor Per Lindqvist in the press release.
