The Danish Emergency Management Agency (Beredskabsstyrelsen) has renewed its contract with Dansk Beredskabskommunikation for the operation and further development of the national communications network Sikkerhedsnettet (SINE), which is used by police, fire and rescue services, ambulance services, and other critical public authorities. The contract runs until 2034 and also covers support for broadband communications.

According to a press release from the Beredskabsstyrelsen, the new contract period ensures the continued operation and development of SINE, which is used for secure voice communications in both day-to-day operations and during major incidents and crises.

"Secure and effective emergency communications are essential for our users and, by extension, for the safety of citizens. This is why this project has been of great importance," said Asif Parbst Amin, Deputy Director and Head of the Authority Division at the Beredskabsstyrelsen, in the press release.

In connection with the contract renewal, SINE has also gained broadband support through the DIMETRA Connect feature. According to the agency, this means that compatible radio units can automatically switch to broadband communications in areas with limited or no SINE coverage.

At the same time, the Beredskabsstyrelsen is analysing which data-based communications solution should, in the longer term, replace the current system and enable capabilities such as real-time video sharing and cross-border interoperability. According to the agency, the new contract entered into force on 1 April 2026 and runs until 2034, with an option to extend until 2039.
