The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO/FMI) has introduced new contracts with three civilian spare parts wholesalers and a digital procurement solution to increase the availability of the Danish Armed Forces' vehicle fleet.
According to DALO, the new contracts with FTZ, BESKO and EUROPART will make it possible to order spare parts more quickly, with delivery in many cases available the following day. The aim is to reduce the time from order to completed vehicle repair, thereby increasing operational availability.
– The time from a mechanic ordering a spare part to it being fitted in the vehicle is significantly shorter, which means the vehicle is back on the road more quickly, says Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, head of the land division at DALO.
The initiative complements an earlier contract that allows civilian workshops to carry out maintenance on the Danish Armed Forces' trucks when military workshops lack capacity.
