Denmark is acquiring two new types of long-range precision missiles: Kongsberg’s Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and the Anthem cruise missile from US company Covenant. The Ministry of Defence announced the purchases on 22 October.
— The acquisitions are a significant step towards making Denmark better able to defend itself and carry our share of the burden in NATO. At the same time, we are sending a strong signal that we have the ability to strike back, said Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus.
The JSM will be fired from Denmark’s F-35 fighters. Anthem will be launched from land. The ministry gave no quantities, costs or delivery dates.
The government made an in-principle decision in September 2025 to acquire long-range precision weapons, as previously reported by NDS. According to the ministry, NATO has asked for these capabilities. The purchases follow a recommendation from the Chief of Defence.
DALO previously signed a contract on 19 October for more Naval Strike Missiles for the Navy’s frigates, also reported by NDS.
