Denmark Reports Acquisition Plan for 2026
Denmark's Ministry of Defence's Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation has presented an acquisition plan for 2026 with multi-billion investments to strengthen defence capabilities and supply chains, focusing on land, air, and maritime sectors as well as IT infrastructure. The plan emphasises rapid operational build-up in response to the changing security situation and urges suppliers to stay updated via official procurement platforms.
The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse, FMI) now publishes its procurement plan for 2026. The document outlines investments amounting to billions, focusing on the rapid build-up of operational capability and robust supply chains.
Denmark is facing a changed security situation due to the conflict in Ukraine and intensified hybrid threats, according to FMI's report. According to the foreword in the plan, the goal is to quickly increase the defence's operational capability, made possible by the newly established Acceleration Fund.
"During 2026, FMI will continue to strengthen cooperation with the defence industry in Denmark to support the defence's supply security through strategic partnerships," the agency writes in the document.
The majority of the investment plans focus on the army. FMI plans to acquire mobile fuel tank facilities with an estimated volume of between 500 and 1,000 million Danish kroner (DKK). In the same range are procurements of camouflage materiel and surveillance radar to detect drones and shells.
For the air force, there are plans to secure a framework agreement for heavy maintenance of the C-130J Hercules transport aircraft, valued at 100–500 million DKK. The plan also includes the replacement of TMA radar (Terminal Maneuvering Area) with a similar budget framework.
On the naval side, FMI is preparing framework agreements for electrical and forging work on the Royal Danish Navy's vessels, estimated at 100–500 million DKK. The Danish Coast Rescue Service will also be provided with new fast rescue boats for up to 100 million DKK.
In the IT sector, the defence is preparing a transition from the old copper network. The project to manage the shutdown of telecom company TDC's infrastructure is estimated to cost between 100 and 500 million DKK.
FMI emphasises that the plan represents a snapshot and that changes may occur depending on operational needs and political priorities. The agency encourages interested suppliers to stay updated via official procurement platforms such as udbud.dk.
