The Danish government has decided on a new military support package for Ukraine worth approximately 4.4 billion Danish kroner. The package includes ammunition, weapons, military materiel, and continued funding of the so-called "Danish model" for procurement from Ukraine's defence industry.
According to a press release from the Danish Ministry of Defence, the 30th military support package includes additional donations of ammunition, weapons, and other materiel to Ukraine's defence. The package also includes increased funding for the training of Ukrainian soldiers.
Approximately 1.3 billion Danish kroner has been allocated to the so-called Danish model, which enables the financing of Ukraine's own defence procurement through its domestic defence industry. According to the ministry, the model has helped Ukraine rapidly acquire equipment including drones, artillery systems, and ammunition. The package also includes additional funding for long-range artillery ammunition.
«Denmark stands unwaveringly behind Ukraine. Ukraine's fight for freedom is also Europe's fight, and we cannot afford to let the Ukrainians down now when it matters most. At the same time, we must also learn from the Ukrainians in order to strengthen Denmark's military capability, which was the main purpose of my visit to Ukraine,» says Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Denmark has provided military support to Ukraine totalling approximately 76.8 billion Danish kroner since 2022.
