Danish ministers participated in an international defence conference in Kyiv over the weekend, where a new agreement on industrial defence cooperation with Ukraine was signed. This was reported by Ukraine's Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal on X.
The agreement was presented at the international conference DFNC3 in Kyiv on 3 October, where a Danish delegation participated, including Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister of Industry Morten Bødskov, and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The forum also gathered Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Netherlands' Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The agreement, a so-called memorandum of understanding, allows Ukrainian defence companies the opportunity to start joint production in Denmark, establish new facilities, and collaborate on technology exchange. It also opens up for financing via the EU, according to Shmyhal.
– Ukraine and its partners are currently laying the foundation for a lasting peace and a new European security architecture, said Shmyhal during the conference.
Among those present were Denmark's Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and Minister of Industry Morten Bødskov. The latter described the Danish delegation as the largest business delegation from Denmark to date in Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian government, the aim is to expand cooperation with over 25 companies and sign an additional seven agreements before the end of the year. The focus is on areas such as drone technology, joint production, and development of new defence solutions. The cooperation is also linked to Ukraine's new strategy for defence exports, where products and technology can be shared with partner countries without risking the country's own needs.
The new agreement comes shortly after a new Danish-Ukrainian defence company was announced.
As Nordic Defence Sector previously reported, the Ukrainian-American MITS Capital recently launched MITS Industries in Copenhagen, a new industrial platform for drones and electronic warfare. The company brings together Ukrainian manufacturers such as Tencore (see lower image), Infozahyst, and Unwave, and is expected to employ over 1,000 people. According to the company, the goal is to become a major European player with revenues over 200 million dollars by 2026.
