The Swedish Armed Forces are at the top when it comes to trust in authorities. This is shown by this year's Trust Barometer, which measures the population's confidence in institutions, parties, mass media, and companies. Also in the top ten are MSB and Säpo.

– The uncertain global situation and the war in Ukraine have highlighted the importance of defence readiness and a strong military defence. That the Swedish population has high confidence and trust in the Swedish Armed Forces is reassuring for our collective efforts, says Supreme Commander Micael Bydén in a message on the Swedish Armed Forces' website.

The proportion who have very or fairly high confidence in the Swedish Armed Forces is at 67 percent, which is the highest among the authorities in the survey. This is followed by the Swedish Tax Agency and Säpo at 65 percent, closely followed by the Public Health Agency at 64 percent. MSB ranks seventh with 57 percent.

– The high confidence in the Swedish Armed Forces is a result of the hard work that our employees and volunteers do daily, says Micael Bydén.

The Media Academy's Trust Barometer has been conducted annually since 1997. The 2023 survey includes 1201 web interviews with people aged 16 or older. This year's measurement was conducted by Kantar Public.
