A feasibility study commissioned by Denmark's embassies in Finland, Norway and Sweden recommends a common Nordic framework for space licensing and defence procurement. Finnish consultancy Pathfinder Solutions prepared the report. It looks at openings for Danish space SMEs in Nordic defence markets.
The study proposes a permanent Nordic Space Roundtable. Its goal would be a "Nordic Space Corridor". Under that framework, a launch licence or orbital permit approved by one Nordic authority would be valid across the region. The authors also call for joint Nordic defence procurement and subsidised cross-border access to test facilities for SMEs.
The report cites national and EU space investment plans of about USD 109 billion through 2030. It also cites an IISS estimate that cutting the most critical dependencies on the US would require at least USD 10 billion in dedicated military space assets. According to the report, Sweden is acquiring about ten reconnaissance and surveillance satellites, with deliveries due between 2026 and 2028.
The report names four barriers for Danish firms: scarce growth capital, small domestic procurement markets, fragmented licensing and a shortage of specialist engineers.
The Trade Council is also offering the Nordic Defence Suppliers Forum (NDSF 2027). It is a 12-month programme across three Nordic markets for Danish defence and dual-use companies.
