A tank squadron, a mortar platoon and logistics units from the Danish battalion spent a week in Estonia on live-fire training, the Danish Defence said on 2 October. The aim was to train the units to work together under tactical conditions.
The crews first zeroed their tanks' weapons. Then they ran a series of tactical lanes. These included live firing and treating a wounded crew member before handing him over to the medical platoon. The squadron also practised recovering a disabled tank.
The mortar platoon supported the tanks with its heavy CARDOM mortars, at the squadron's request. After each fire order, the platoon moved into a firing position, fired, and quickly left the position again.
The supply transport platoon brought food, fuel and ammunition for all units. According to the Danish Defence, the training also practised the battalion's ability to move and deploy its units.
The Danish Defence said such training makes Denmark's presence in the Baltics visible. It added that the training shows Denmark is willing to help defend the region if needed.
