The head of the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service (Must), Lieutenant General Thomas Nilsson, recently visited Kyiv where he met his Ukrainian counterpart, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service, HUR.

– The West's support, together with the great Ukrainian resilience and high morale, has been crucial for Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russia and ultimately for the security in our vicinity and in Europe, says Thomas Nilsson, in an article on the Swedish Armed Forces' website.

During the meeting, a deepened cooperation between the intelligence services and the security policy situation were discussed. During the visit, both intelligence chiefs participated in a ceremony to honor fallen colleagues within the Ukrainian intelligence service.

– The growing cooperation, founded on a long tradition of military cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden, will protect our shared values of democracy and freedom, said Kyrylo Budanov, according to a press release from HUR.
