The ties between Brazil and Sweden have been increasingly strengthened. In May, the Minister for Civil Defence, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, visited the country to inaugurate a test and production facility for Saab Gripen E/F together with President Lula da Silva, as Defence Sector News previously reported. After the state visit, Bohlin wrote in a LinkedIn post that the Gripen deal "is simply good for Swedish security and Swedish taxpayers." Saab and the Brazilian company Embraer have also deepened their cooperation. At the defence exhibition LAAD2023 in Rio de Janeiro in April, the companies announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding to support each other's export opportunities; Embraer will help Saab sell the Gripen to more Latin American countries, and Saab will in turn help Embraer market the KC-390 transport aircraft to the Swedish Air Force.

A Swedish delegation consisting of diplomats and officials also attended LAAD2023. According to Sweden's ambassador in the country, Karin Wallensteen, she, Honorary Consul Jan Lomholdt, representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Air Force, as well as Defence Minister Pål Jonson's State Secretary, Peter Sandwall, visited the exhibition. The Örnsköldsvik company BAE Systems Hägglunds was also present with its own stand, which was visited by the Swedish delegation. In the stand, visitors could see the vehicle using VR technology.

A few days later in the same month, Mark Collins announced, Head of Communications for BAE Systems in Latin America among others, to Reuters that Hägglunds will allow a CV90 to be evaluated in Brazil. According to Mark Collins, the offer may also include the establishment of domestic production or final assembly.
