On 30 September, a protocol meeting was held in Kirkenes between Norway's operational leadership and the Russian border service. The meeting is part of the established cooperation between the countries' border authorities in the north.
On the Norwegian side, Vice Admiral Rune Andersen, head of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters (FOH), participated along with representatives from the Coast Guard, the Sør-Varanger Border Guard, and the Norwegian Defence Attaché in Moscow. The agenda included issues of border security, cooperation between coast guard units in the Barents and Norwegian Seas, as well as search and rescue operations.
The Russian delegation arrived in Norway via the Storskog border station.
The meeting was held with Major General Andrey Yuryevich Kudimov, head of the West Arctic Regional Border Directorate within the Russian Federal Security Service's Border Guard (FSB). The Russian border service is a branch within the FSB and is responsible for monitoring the entire Russian land and sea border.
