BAE Systems Bofors has completed the acquisition of Aston Harald Mekaniska Verkstad AB. The deal was announced earlier this year and was described at the time as a step towards strengthening the company's production capacity and supply security for several Swedish defence systems.
Aston Harald, headquartered in Kristinehamn (western Sweden) and employing around 100 people, specialises in precision mechanics and advanced machining of components for the defence, space, and industrial sectors. The company has for several years been a strategic supplier to BAE Systems Bofors.
According to BAE Systems Bofors, the acquisition will strengthen delivery capability linked to, among other systems, the Archer artillery system, TRIDON Mk2, Combat Vehicle 9040 (Stridsfordon 9040), and the naval guns 40 Mk4 and 57 Mk3.
In a new press release, the company states that the transaction has now been completed and that it forms part of the strategy to strengthen supply security and meet increasing demand in the European defence market.
