American B-52 Stratofortress bombers have commenced a new exercise period in Europe. Sweden and Finland are participating in activities covering both Eastern Europe and the Nordic region.

According to Allied Air Command (AIRCOM), bombers from Barksdale Air Force Base in the USA arrived at Morón Air Base in Spain on 8 November 2025. The mission is part of Bomber Task Force Europe 26-1 and aims to enhance coordination with allied and partner countries, including Finland, Sweden, and Lithuania.

From Spain, the B-52s conduct training missions over Europe as part of NATO's deterrence and defence efforts along the eastern flank and in the Nordic region.

The operations in the north are coordinated with NATO's new air operations centre, CAOC Bodø in Norway, which was inaugurated in October 2025. The new centre complements existing CAOC units in Uedem, Germany, and Torrejón, Spain.

On 12 November, a B-52 was escorted by Finnish F/A-18 Hornet. According to the Finnish Air Force, simulated weapon strikes were conducted against targets designated by Finnish JTAC units at the Sotinpuro training field.
