The Public Prosecutor's Office states in a press release that a 71-year-old man has been charged today on suspicion of gross unauthorised handling of classified information. The individual is suspected of having dealt with information regarding 41 defence installations. The material was discovered following a search of the man's residence.
– It concerns compilations of information that make it possible to map military infrastructure of great importance to the nation's defence, says Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist.
According to the prosecutor, it is a serious crime.
– Currently, three prosecutors at the National Unit for Security Cases are working on several other preliminary investigations against various individuals where charges can be expected shortly. These are serious crimes because the classified information concerns installations that are of great importance to the nation's defence, says Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist.
