At a ceremony in Stockholm (Sweden's capital), Apotea presented 250 new emergency medical backpacks to Ukraine's Ambassador to Sweden, Svitlana Zalishchuk.
"It can be the difference between life and death at the front," she said in the press release.
With this latest delivery, the company, together with customers and partners, has now sent a total of 1,250 emergency medical backpacks to military medics in Ukraine. Apotea also states that a total of 21 lorries carrying medical supplies have been delivered, with a combined value of approximately 40 million Swedish kronor.
"We know that these backpacks are used every day. This is an effort we are making together, and we will continue for as long as the need exists," said Pär Svärdson, CEO of Apotea.
According to Apotea, the contents and design of the backpacks have been adapted to meet changing needs at the front. In the latest delivery, the backpacks have a volume of 20 litres, compared to the previous 40 litres. The company states that the quantity of medical supplies remains the same, but that the smaller format is intended to facilitate distribution and use in smaller units.
In 2024, Apotea and Snigel began a collaboration on the manufacture of the backpacks.
The reason for the smaller backpacks is reported to be that military medics are increasingly operating in smaller groups at the front. This is linked to changes in the conduct of warfare, where factors including drones are affecting working methods and mobility.
"Every emergency backpack makes a difference for our military medics. It can be the difference between life and death at the front," said Ukraine's Ambassador Svitlana Zalishchuk.
