Swede Ship Marine was involved in the modernisation work of five Surveillance Boat type 80, which were subsequently renamed Surveillance Boat type 88. According to a press release from FMV nearly three years ago, the vessels underwent a life extension, received new engines, and a rebuilt command bridge.

The company has, according to its website, previously delivered mortar boats to the United Arab Emirates Navy. At that time, one vessel was built in Sweden and an additional five on-site in Abu Dhabi. These vessels are 24 metres long, have a top speed of 30 knots fully loaded, and in addition to a 120mm mortar at the stern, also have two machine guns of calibre 12.7mm.
