The Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) announce that 230 new second lieutenants were commissioned at a ceremony at the Military Academy Karlberg (Militärhögskolan Karlberg) in Stockholm, Sweden, on 26 June 2026. The new officers were welcomed by Supreme Commander Michael Claesson, their new unit commanders and future colleagues. The majority have completed the Officers' Programme, while 35 second lieutenants come from other backgrounds, most of them via the Special Officer Training programme (Sofu), a shorter course for existing Swedish Armed Forces employees who already hold an academic degree.

"Being able to welcome 230 new second lieutenants to units across the country today is highly significant. They represent an important reinforcement of the Swedish Armed Forces and form part of the long-term build-up of our military capability," says Supreme Commander Michael Claesson.

The graduating class is the 231st since Karlberg was established as a military academy in 1792. The new officers will serve at various Swedish Armed Forces units across the country, initially often tasked with training conscripts.
