Oy FORCIT Ab laid the foundation for its new TNT production facility in Pori, Finland, on 15 September 2026. Finland's Ministry of Defence said the United States is providing $20 million in financial support for the project.
According to the ministry, the plant “will produce TNT for Finland’s and NATO’s needs”, as well as “enable long-term support to Ukraine”. Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said Finland has "decided to build the TNT production facility to meet the critical needs of Finland and NATO," calling the US contribution "yet another demonstration of the deep defence cooperation between our countries." He added that Finland has also “held discussions together with [its] Allies on their participation to the project”.
FORCIT is investing in and operating the plant in Noormarkku, part of Pori. According to FORCIT, construction started this summer on the roughly 50-hectare site.
FORCIT CEO Joakim Westerlund called the foundation stone "a tangible step toward the completion of the production facility," saying it will strengthen "national security of supply and the capability of the defence industry.". He added that the facility responds to a need to increase explosives production capacity “by strengthening the availability of TNT and supporting the reliability of defence industry supply chains”.
