Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) will begin series of deliveries in 2027 of a new Terrängbil 24 (TGB 24) variant. The variant is a single-cab flatbed truck with a longer cargo bed, built by Finnish manufacturer Sisu Auto.
According to FMV, the TGB 24 gets heavy-duty axles that raise the vehicle's total weight and increase its load capacity. It also has a retractable canopy with folding side rails, a standardized 10-foot ISO container interface, power outlets fed by the vehicle's own generator and batteries, and a reinforced bed built to take the recoil of a 120mm mortar.
Systems engineer for light-wheeled vehicles at FMV Jens Svedberg describes it as a “more logistics-oriented variant in the form of a flatbed truck with a single cab and a longer bed".
Svedberg points to systems “across everything from air defence, indirect fire, mine-laying and medical care” around the world using the 10-foot interface, adding that this “great flexibility, and the need for specially built vehicles for niche roles may decrease over time.”
The Swedish Armed Forces received its first TGB 24s, a troop carrier and a double-cab flatbed, in 2025. Those vehicles come from an earlier framework order for more than 600 TGB 24s, previously reported on by NDS. Sweden and Finland signed it jointly, and it is worth about 2 billion kronor. It also covers single-cab, command, air-defence, medical and CBRN-detection variants.
According to FMV, “command vehicles, medical evacuation trucks and two six-wheeled flatbed variants” of the TGB 24 are in development.
