The Swedish Innovation Agency Vinnova is announcing support for small and medium-sized enterprises with civilian technology solutions that can be developed for military applications. This initiative is part of the civil-military innovation programme and aims to strengthen both Sweden's defence capability and the competitiveness of companies.

Companies can apply for up to 500,000 Swedish kronor in grants for development and verification projects. Additionally, participation in an accelerator programme focused on business development towards the defence market is included, according to Vinnova.

The announcement aims to make technical infrastructure more economically accessible for small and medium-sized enterprises, and according to Vinnova, they want to strengthen the opportunities to drive technology development forward and explore how the technology can be used in military contexts. By technical infrastructure, Vinnova refers to facilities, equipment, capacity, and support services required to develop, test, and validate technology, as well as enable scaling to a higher level of technical maturity.

The announcement is broad and encompasses various types of infrastructures. Support can, for example, be provided for parts of the participation fee for the programme Battle Week, where companies have the opportunity to solve military problems and demonstrate their solutions in realistic environments. The initiative Battle Week, driven by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), has previously been reported on by NDS.

To be eligible to apply, the company must develop a technology solution that clearly meets a military need significant for Sweden's defence capability. The projects must be carried out by individual companies and can take place over a limited period.
