MBDA has signed an agreement with Swedish company Svekon for concept development of an Arctic-adapted ground-based air defence platform for CAMM/CAMM-ER missiles. This is stated in a press release from Svekon.
The agreement covers the development of a new concept for ground-based air defence adapted to Nordic conditions. According to MBDA, Svekon will contribute to the company's work on developing an Arctic launcher solution for the CAMM and CAMM-ER family of missiles.
"We are pleased to welcome Svekon, a highly competent Swedish engineering company, which will support our ambitions to develop an Arctic launcher for CAMM/CAMM-ER," says Peter Bäckström, Director Export Nordic Region at MBDA, in the press release.
Svekon describes the agreement as a strategic collaboration on future air defence solutions for the region. However, no customer or procurement linked to the concept is mentioned in the press release.
In 2023, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) signed an agreement with MBDA for the Sea Ceptor system with CAMM missiles, to provide the Visby-class corvettes with a new air defence capability. In 2025, FMV also tasked Saab with integrating the system on the corvettes. More recently, FMV additionally opened negotiations with French company Naval Group for four new FDI frigates for the Swedish Navy, in which CAMM-ER forms part of the planned air defence solution alongside the Aster 30 missile.
