Saab and the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA, Direction générale de l'Armement) have signed a contract for the delivery of the NLAW (Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon) anti-tank missile system. Deliveries are planned for the period 2026 to 2030.
Saab states that the contract covers NLAW missiles as well as training equipment for both indoor and outdoor use. France also holds options to order additional NLAW missiles within the framework of the contract.
Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab's business area Dynamics, comments on the deal in the press release:
"With NLAW, we are providing the French Army with an entirely new level of anti-tank capability. By enabling individual soldiers to engage tanks, NLAW contributes to significantly enhancing battlefield effectiveness."
Saab states that NLAW is in service with, among others, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Finland. The system is equipped with guidance technology that enables a single soldier to engage tanks from various positions, for example from inside a building, around a corner, or from behind cover.
