The Swedish cybersecurity company Clavister has been awarded a contract by the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (Forsvarsmateriell, FMA) for the delivery of tactical communication systems. The procurement is part of the strategic Mime programme aimed at modernising command and control systems.

The contract, valued at 280 million SEK, entails that Clavister will develop and deliver the Tactical Core Network System (TCNS), a tactical communication solution specifically intended for the Norwegian Armed Forces. The solution will be integrated into the Norwegian Armed Forces' tactical network.

FMA states in a press release that the acquisition is part of a broader initiative to modernise and secure the defence's command systems.

– Tactical Communication Nodes (TKN) provide our units with efficient, secure, and user-friendly connectivity regardless of the communication carrier. TCNS provides TKN with the functionality that is crucial for fulfilling the Armed Forces' demanding tasks, says Lieutenant Colonel Lars Eirik Aas, Acting Head of Communications and ICT in the Army.

For Clavister, CEO John Vestberg states in a press release:

– We are proud to support the Norwegian Armed Forces with a solution based on our proprietary technology, and we look forward to a close and constructive collaboration with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency throughout the delivery and support phase.

The signing will formally take place at a later date.
