Sweden is allocating 6.2 billion kronor from its 18th military support package for this purpose. The funds will be used to provide equipment and financial support within the framework of the cooperation, the government writes in a press release, following today's government meeting.
Denmark announced in February that they are contributing an additional approximately 2 billion Danish kroner, primarily for ammunition but also for the establishment of the Ukrainian brigade. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasizes the importance of placing Ukraine in a strong position and continuing support as long as necessary.
Norway will lead the practical planning of the brigade's setup and contribute with both equipment and soldier training. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stresses that the support is crucial for Ukraine's resilience and that the Norwegian defense is already training Ukrainian soldiers.
In a joint statement, the leaders of Ukraine and the NB8 countries condemn Russia's ongoing invasion and promise continued support, including air defense, ammunition, and investments in Ukraine's defense industry. Additionally, they highlight the importance of Ukraine's integration into the transatlantic community and NATO membership.
