The Swedish Conscription and Assessment Agency (Plikt- och prövningsverket), together with the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) and the Civil Defence and Resilience Agency (MSB, Myndigheten för civilt försvar), has launched the new website Pliktguiden (the Conscription Guide). The aim is to consolidate information on conscription assessment, military service, and civil service obligations on a single shared platform, making the process clearer for those affected.
According to the agencies, the website is intended to serve as a unified entry point for individuals who are due to undergo conscription assessment or basic training within Sweden's Total Defence (Totalförsvar) framework. The Conscription Council (Pliktrådet) participated as a consultative body during the development of the website.
"This is a clear example of a successful project in which all parties involved have genuinely lived up to the government's direction that we should work swiftly, pragmatically, and always seek to ensure a holistic perspective. With the conscript at the centre, we have created clarity and added value for the target group," said Peter Göthe, Director General of the Swedish Conscription and Assessment Agency, in a press release from the agency.
Pliktguiden covers the entire process, from conscription documentation and tests through to training and subsequent wartime assignment. The website encompasses both military conscription (värnplikt) and civil service obligations (civilplikt), as well as information about Sweden's Total Defence system.
According to the Swedish Conscription and Assessment Agency, the goal is to reduce the need to seek information from multiple different authorities, while also providing greater reassurance for those subject to the Total Defence service obligation (totalförsvarsplikten).
The website also includes guides, training information, and personal accounts from individuals who have completed basic training within the Total Defence framework.
